How do you clean grease and grime off kitchen cabinets?

Depending on how stubborn the stains are, there are 3 common approaches you can take:

Water and dish soap

Use this solution if your kitchen cabinets don’t have that much grease and grime on them. Add 2-3 squirts of dish soap into a bucket of hot water and dip your sponge in it. Apply the mixture to the cabinets. Clean gently, to avoid inflicting damage to the fine finish. Then, cover the area with a damp rag to remove the remaining soap. Finally, use paper towels to dry the cabinets off. Repeat the process if some of the filth persists.

White vinegar

For moderate stains, undiluted white vinegar will do the trick. If your vinegar comes in a spray bottle, simply spray it across the cabinets. If not, dampen a clean cloth with the vinegar. Wipe down the surface, rinse with warm water and use a different cloth or a paper towel to dry the cabinets. This approach is quite effective, but you shouldn’t rely on it too often because it could dull the shine of the surface.

Baking soda and vegetable oil

This combo is ideal for heavy grease and grime. Add 4 tbsp of baking soda, and 2 tbsp of vegetable oil into a bowl. Keep stirring them until they form a thick paste. Apply the mixture to the cabinets with your fingers. Make sure to cover the handles, since it’s where a lot of grime builds up. Scrub the surface with a non-abrasive sponge, and use a toothbrush for narrow spaces. Wipe away the paste with a damp cloth, and dry the cabinets with paper towels.

How do you clean and shine wood cabinets?

There are several products you can use for wood cabinets, but we recommend going for white vinegar here as well. It is less harmful than chemical cleaners, and the procedure is fairly straightforward:

  • Make the solution: Mix a cup of water, a cup of white vinegar, and a few drops of olive oil together.  The smell might be overpowering, but it’s completely safe to use.
  • Apply the mixture: Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and wipe down the cabinets. You’ll be able to eliminate all the grease, as well as any other food particles. The olive oil will provide the desired shine.
  • Dry the area: Take a paper towel and cover the surface once again to remove the cleaning solution from the cabinets

What to clean the inside of kitchen cabinets with?

The cleaning process is incomplete without taking care of the interior. Luckily, this shouldn’t take up too much of your time either.

First, empty your kitchen cabinets, and check if there’s any spoiled food. If so, don’t take a chance. Throw it out, as it is a serious health hazard. Then, fill a spray bottle with a detergent or soap, and water. Make a mixture of one part detergent or soap and two parts water. Spray the solution all over the interior, and dry it with a paper towel.
